ROC CITY BOTTOMS DIAPER BANK PARTNERS WITH THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF ROCHESTER TO TACKLE DIAPER NEED IN ROCHESTER

(Rochester, N.Y. – November 29, 2017) ROC City Bottoms Diaper Bank (RCB) is excited to partner with the Junior League of Rochester (JLR) for diaper bank operations. JLR volunteers will be assisting RCB with the collection and distribution of diapers and diapering supplies, and RCB will store its diaper inventory at the JLR office in Linden Oaks.

“The Junior League of Rochester is excited to start this new partnership with Roc City Bottoms. The Junior League of Rochester has an 85 year history of positive impact, identifying problems and finding solutions, in the Rochester area. This initiative is perfectly aligned with our mission of helping women fulfill their potential and creating lasting community change,” said Rose Cooper, President, Junior League of Rochester. “Diaper insecurity is a contributing factor in the poverty cycle, and we are committed to helping break this cycle by working alongside Roc City Bottoms.”

Community members are encouraged to host a diaper drive or donate their leftover and open packages of diapers to be given to families in need. ROC City Bottoms collects donated diapers (disposable and cloth), wipes and creams at 4 drop off locations in Monroe County – please visit www.roccitybottoms.org for those locations. The diapers and diapering supplies are distributed through more than 65 agency partners and social workers in the Rochester area.

Christina Foster, President and Co-Founder of ROC City Bottoms, explains that “RCB hopes to expand operations to further meet the diapering needs of families in our community, especially in light of the fact that more than half of the children in the City of Rochester live in poverty. We are grateful for the support of Junior League of Rochester members, who are trained volunteers that will us allow us to serve even more families in need.”

ROC City Bottoms is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 2015 with the goal of becoming a regional diaper bank serving the Greater Rochester Area. Its mission is to provide diapers and diapering supplies to little bottoms in need through partnerships with other organizations and agencies. RCB is a member of the National Diaper Bank Network, which reports that more than 1 in 3 families in the United States suffer from diaper need. Since its inception, RCB has distributed more than 100,000 diapers.
